- Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event will be held virtually on February 9, starting at 10 a.m. ET.
- The new phones are known as the Galaxy S22 series so far.
- Little is known about the Galaxy S22, and rumors are surprisingly scant and unreliable.
Samsung has announced that it will host its next Galaxy Unpacked event on February 9 at 10 a.m. ET, where the company will likely reveal its next generation of Galaxy S premium, most advanced flagship phones.
The announcement will be held virtually, which means it'll be streamed on Samsung's website and popular streaming platforms like YouTube, with no in-person event taking place.
Little is known about Samsung's next flagship phone series, which has been assumed to be called the Galaxy S22 series so far. However, it's widely agreed that the Galaxy S22 lineup in the US will run on the latest Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm, as is typical for Samsung's Galaxy S phones. It's also likely that Galaxy S22 models outside the US will run on Samsung's own Exynos processors, which is also typical.
It's safe to assume that Samsung will keep its current three-model lineup with a standard model, a "plus" model, and an "ultra" model. Rumor has it that the standard Galaxy S22 will have a 6-inch display, the Galaxy S22 Plus will have a 6.55-inch display, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra will have a 6.8-inch display, according to FronTron, a well-trusted tech leaker on Twitter.

Leaks also suggest that the Galaxy S22 series will support fast 45-Watt (W) charging, according to Ice Universe, another popular gadgets Twitter leaker. However, it has also been suggested the Galaxy S22 series will support 65W charging, FronTron has shared. It's possible that different Galaxy S22 models could support different charging speeds, like the Galaxy S20 series did — the Galaxy S20 Ultra supported 45W charging while the other models only supported up to 25W charging.

Oddly, the Galaxy S21 regressed on charging abilities, as Samsung ditched 45W charging and limited charging at 25W across the board. With this in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung brings charging improvements to the Galaxy S22 series, as the leaks claim.
Unfortunately, other rumors surrounding camera specs and prices are surprisingly contradicting and unreliable — usually, rumors so close to a device's launch are usually more convincing.
What will the Samsung Galaxy S22 price be?
It can be safely expected that the Galaxy S22 phones will cost at least $800 and up. That's taking into account the Galaxy S21 phones that started at $800 in 2021, and considering Samsung just released the Galaxy S21 FE for $700.
Samsung is already allowing fans to reserve their place in the preorder line for these S22 phones ahead of release, which gets them $50 off of Samsung accessories and other products while preordering.
Last year's Galaxy S21 phones were well received for their excellent performance, cameras, premium designs, and appropriate price tags. I'm expecting to be similarly impressed with the Galaxy S22 series, but what kinds of upgrades and new features to expect are difficult to confidently anticipate.
Samsung usually reveals new Galaxy S flagship phones at the beginning of the year, with last year's Galaxy S21 series launching in January 2021. That means the timing is right for a new Galaxy S flagship series, so come back on February 9 for more information and later my full reviews of Samsung's latest top-tier phones.
