What’s it like to stand in a room that’s completely black?

The Action Lab Man, James Orgill, decided to see for himself. After building a small room, he completely painted the interior using KoPro Musou Black Paint. While most black paints absorb between 94% and 98% of visible light, Musou Black absorbs up to 99.4%.

As James enters the room, he appears to be getting smaller, and once he closes the door, he disappears altogether. When he turns on a lightbulb, it’s the only source of light, therefore creating shadows that weren’t present in the unpainted room. This is because the paint blocks out the reflected light we’re used to.

Check out James Orgill’s book of experiments, Extreme Garage Science For Kids, on Amazon with a rating of 4.5 stars by more than 13,000 readers. You can also see highlights of the wackiest experiments on Action Lab’s Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
